BACKCOUNTRY HORSEMEN TRAIL COURSE

Posted August 28, 2011

The Grand Mesa Back Country Horsemen group will be hosting a trail course and potluck, as well as the regular monthly meeting, September 17 at the Ackerman's Ute Valley Ranch. Here's the report from the group's August newsletter:

"As most of you are aware, our next meeting will be Saturday September 17th at Ute Valley Ranch at 1:00pm. The meeting will be followed by a trail course and then a pot luck dinner. Please bring a dish and whatever meat you wish to have cooked along with your place settings and drinks.
"To get to our ranch, you need to drive to Monument Road off Grand by Dos Homes or 340 if you are coming from the West. There is a Western Convenience on one corner and Albertsons is across the street. Turn onto Monument Road, pass the car wash on your right and the little brown vet clinic on your left. Turn left on D Road which then turns and becomes Rosevale Road. Follow Rosevale to the end where there is a Little Park Road sign and turn right on Little Park Road. You will pass a bunch of houses, a hairpin curve, and another batch of houses. A little further, you will see Little Park staging area on your left, and further up, you will Bang's Canyon Staging Area on your left. You will cross a cattle guard and come about 1 1⁄2 miles further to 21 1⁄2 Road which will be on your left. Turn there and come down a gravel road for about 1 1⁄2 miles, where you will see an open gate on your left with a GMBCH sign on it.
"We will have the parking area roped off for you. If you have any questions, please call 242-8860. Hope to see you all here."
